So, it has been a while since I’ve been active on here. Partly because life got away from me! I’ve been so incredibly busy in the past two years. My first year of teaching was a success and 2016 saw me working with Stage 3. I was hard at work for the first semester of the year and then I noticed something wasn’t right…
Term 3 rolled around and I had been sick for weeks. And I mean WEEKS! I spent about 8 weeks going back and forth between dip sh** doctors. I kept on focussing on work, because when I was working, I didn’t notice what was going on with my body. I decided it was time to switch doctor and after a series of tests and scans I was advised to go straight to hospital as they were fearing respiratory failure. That visit was uneventful, all I had was an appointment with a respiratory specialist in 4 weeks time.
August 31st rolled around and all I remember hearing was “I’m not going to lie, it looks like Lymphoma”. After a CT scan and core needle biopsy (OUCH!) it was all confirmed as Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I left work Term 3 Week 7 for the rest of the year to kick cancers arse.
So, here I am. I’ve just finished 8 rounds of chemotherapy and am about to start radiation mid January. Oh, and I’m returning to work next year. I’m working with Stage 3 again. The tricky part will be juggling radiation AND teaching.
Anyway, I have uploaded some new resources on my TpT website. Go have a gander!
