While I was on my internship I was required to implement a community project within the school. I decided to create an Aboriginal cultural room that honoured all the Indigenous service men and women of Australia.
I thought a ‘tree of life’ would be appropriate and images of those people would be hung from the branches.
Students across all years contributed to the painting and by the end of term it was finished. Artefacts and furniture was put into the room and it would become a place for students to learn about community members contributions to their country.
It’s a great feeling knowing that I can go back to the school in 30 years time and see how it has shaped the community.
