What better way is there to teach a student about sounds in words. Through explicit direction, students will be chunking their way through this activity in no time. There are 3 levels of difficulty for this activity. 

1. Students match the card up to the corresponding sound to make logical words.

2. Instead of a whole card, the beginning sounds have been cut into strips. This activity becomes more time consuming and encourage students to think logically.

3. Students can write in their own sounds to create the word.

I have included this activity in my literacy rotations with k-1 and they love it.
